Top Neighborhoods in Washington, DC - Hamad AlWazzan

Washington is an extraordinary city, that pretty much has it all.  It is an international metropolis, tourist destination, a cosmopolitan center that retains a neighborly small-town ambiance, and a working federal city with tons of historical sites and artifacts with NBA, MBL, NFL, and WNBA-like teams. 

Whether you’re exploring the city with the intent of spending your vacations or looking for an apartment, or thinking of relocating, it’s important to be aware of the DC neighborhood.

1.Dupont circle

The traffic circle is the center of this neighborhood with a good green space for lounging and is known for the stone chess tables, post-civil war era buildings,  famed Dupont circle, good bars, restaurants, farmers market, and  Embassy Row.

Hamad AlWazzan suggests keeping in mind the parking space issues, as it is a popular tourist attraction and the parking is limited. Commuting is easy due to the quick public transportation services.

2. Adams Morgan

Adam Morgan is composed of colorful row houses,  well-styled mid-rise apartment buildings, a community garden, and tons of parks. It is a thriving spot for nightlife and live music. It is the most preferred site of younger crowds.  The place is highly walkable and bike-friendly. Metro Redline makes it easy to commute within the city. 

3. Capitol hill

It is the most historic district with many significant buildings including the supreme court and the capitol building on Pennsylvania Avenue. It is home to many government officials. There are restaurants, vintage storefronts, and  Eastern markets to go to.

4. Georgetown

Georgetown is designated as a historic site. Ancient mansions can be seen alongside the embassies that continue into Embassy Row. It is also known by a university holding the same name. There are good shopping sites,  waterfront park, labyrinth, and streateries.

5. Foggy bottom

The foggy bottom has got the name from the ever-present fog in there. It is one of the safest neighborhoods in DC. It is a premier arts location with lovely row houses dating back to the 1800s. It has star restaurants, a Watergate building, scenic views of Potomac and Rock Creek Park.

6. Penn Quarter - Chinatown

Penn Quarter and Chinatown have overlapping borders, so people use their names interchangeably. Hamad AlWazzan calls it the entertainment hub of DC. It is known for the Capital One Arena, Smithsonian American Art Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Friendship archway, and FBI headquarters.

7. Navy yard 

The Navy yard currently serves as the administrative center for the U.S. Navy houses the Naval Historic Centre. It has great outdoor recreational space, dancing illuminating fountains,  Yards park, and Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge that increased both the residential and commercial space in the neighborhood.

8. Columbia heights

There exists vibrant Latino culture in Columbia Heights, brought by the great Latin population. Columbia Heights has GALA Hispanic Theatre, Mexican Cultural Institute, Meridian Cultural Institute, as famous tourist attractions.

Hamad AlWazzan recommends that finding an apartment with a good neighborhood can be challenging. So it’s better to go through all the ins and outs of the neighborhood, pin down the DC apartment that meets all your requirements.
